Keeping memories alive- the dress preservation
It is one of the oldies traditions that runs in many families, although quite rare these days, to keep the mother’s dress and give it from generation to generation. Maybe you want to continue that, maybe you want to start that, maybe you just want to have it there reminding you about that happy day in your life. There are so many others like you but they all get to the same concerning and wondering point: how to preserve your wedding dress?
First things first, needless to say maybe, the dress needs a professional cleaning. You won’t put it in the closet with stains and everything. And in such professional places you can ask, there are special boxes for special outfits. But how much time do you want to keep it?
We know that there are the classic clothing covers. Will these help? Establish first exactly what you want to do. To avoid the fabric getting a yellowish look in time you may want to use a special sack without air inside. It will wrinkle it of course but it will keep it so well and without taking too much space in your closet.
Everything will lead to the money part. While some say the classic way to preserve it on a wood hanger in the closet is the worse of ideas others will embrace it because of the lack of money. Well it’s not like you will forget about the dress in your closet so from time to time to get it at fresh air will be needed anyway so in a box, just like that may be enough. Avoid though the sun direct light on it and humidity and a little bit of fragrance inside, the perfumed paper to cover it will be of effect in time.
